Akura was delivering a multi-unit industrial complex in Penrith, NSW.
11 architecturally designed warehouse units ranging from 187 to 490 sqm, each with mezzanine levels, high-clearance warehousing, and internal amenities. The development was built for sale and lease to owner-occupiers and investors across Western Sydney. Every unit needed mezzanine stairs with tactiles and nosings, plus handrailing throughout. All handrails and fittings were specified in black powder coat to match the fitout.
With 11 units on one site, all heading to market around the same time, the components had to look and fit the same across every single one. Buyers walking through multiple units before making a decision will notice if the finish on the handrail in unit 3 doesn’t match unit 7. So the spec was set once, and everything was manufactured and installed to that same standard across the full development.
Each staircase was built with integrated tactiles and nosings, and all handrails and fittings were finished in black powder coat. Compacked handled both the supply and install, working directly with the site team across the project. The site itself was a demanding one… full-height precast panels, multiple units at different stages of fitout, and a timeline tied to sales and leasing milestones. Both the project manager, Thomas, and site manager Harrison fed back that they were impressed with the quality of finish and the attention to detail. The install crew and the site team worked well together, and delivery lined up with the build schedule without pushing the program out.
The result was 11 units handed over with consistent, compliant mezzanine access from end to end. Same spec, same finish, same standard across the entire complex.
