Installing Staircases
This video demonstrates how to install a corner staircase using the standard COMPACKED process. The platform is positioned and lowered onto posts using a forklift, with adjustments made to align posts with platform sockets. The top landing plate and stringers are secured, followed by positioning the treads, ensuring the top tread lip overlaps the vertical part of the tread below. Posts are bolted to the treads and stringers fixed to the platform and floor. The railing is cut to size and attached to posts, ensuring the top of the hoops is 1,000mm from the ground to comply with Australian Standards

In this chapter, we’re installing the corner staircase using the standard compact process.
First, position the platform posts without fixing them down. Lift on the platform using a forklift and lower onto the posts.
Adjust the posts if needed, so they slide into the sockets under the platform.
Next, position the top landing plate and stringers, and secure them to the flooring at the top.
Position the tread on the tread legs. This will act as a spacer so the bottom of the stringers can be secured in the right spot.
Add in the rest of the tread.
The lip from the top tread covers the vertical part of the tread below.
Position the posts on the tread, and secure with the dome head m ten by thirty five millimeter bolts.
Drill and bolt the base of the stringers to the platform using the m twelve by sixty five millimeter bolts.
Make sure the posts are level, and fixed down with M12 by seventy five millimeter screw bolts.
Next, cut the railing to length.
Position the base stringers on the platform.
Repeat the same process used earlier, to position and secure the tread.
Secure the stringers to the platform using Domethead m12 by two hundred millimeter bolts.
Finally, bolt of all the treads, including posts where needed.
Bolt the bottom stringers to the floor with M12 by seventy five millimetre screw bolts.
Slide in the railings, using the fixings provided to attach them to the posts.
The top of the hoops needs to be one thousand millimetres from the ground, so make sure to check this.
